Jess

Jess was a quiet, affectionate hound. She was never ill, never mis-behaved. She was often over-looked because she wasn’t a flamboyant character like some of the crowd at Kim’s Home.

Her great passion was her friend Saffy, another lurcher – who belonged to a friend of mine. We were convinced that they must have been litter sisters. Jess adored Saffy and Saffy adored Jess.

Jess came here nearly eleven and a half years ago and wasn’t very young then. She came from a gypsy/traveller site. I went down to collect a black and tan dog and Jess was handed over – black and white. She was missing a toe, had many scars and was lame with bursitis in all her leg joints and had mange. But she soon got well and loved running with her mates.

She’d been in kidney failure for about two years and had done remarkably well. But at the end, she became very shaky, doubly incontinent and could not be tempted by any foods. Her back legs no longer supported her. So she left Kim’s Home in April 2012 aged 16 years and 2 months.
